Tim Wood was born and raised in the Northwest and has lived and worked in Washington and Idaho most of his life. He completed his undergraduate work, (Bachelor of Music, Music Composition), at Central Washington University and his graduate degree, (Master of Music Education), at the University of Idaho. His family has been a farming family in central Washington for over 75 years- several of his cousins still operate fruit orchards.
When he’s not teaching, he enjoys skiing, reading or enjoying some time with his wife Connie. They’ve been married 28 years and their son finished his engineering degree at the University of Idaho last spring.
Some of his directing experiences include community orchestras and pit orchestras for musicals. He’s done everything from guitar slinging with worship groups to fronting Jazz Bands, and playing principal clarinet with an orchestra. He’s presently deciding whether to form a Jazz Combo again. He’s taught high school classes in AP music theory, bands of all kinds, choirs, mariachi, guitar, and more. He presently teaches a section of dual credit music appreciation at Burley High School where he is chairman of the fine arts department and teaches bands and guitar. He’s taught college classes in jazz performance, and private saxophone instruction.
