Mission

The Magic Philharmonic Orchestra was created to foster musical talent in our community by providing high quality orchestral performances that inspire cultural appreciation for the musical performing arts in the Mini-Cassia area.

History

Founded in the fall of 1982, the Magic Philharmonic Orchestra was born from the vision of Bob G. Daley, who served as president for eight years. Under the leadership of its first conductor, Val R. Harrison, the orchestra quickly gained momentum. Its logo was designed by founding member Wayne Burke, and from the start, it has remained an all-volunteer, privately funded ensemble. The orchestra’s early days included a modest $10 assessment for members, local business donations, and borrowed music.

Over the years, the orchestra has grown both in size and skill, with notable conductors including Jim Keezer (1985–1994) and Dr. Eugene Soulsby (1994–2000). For over 20 years, the orchestr has functioned under numerous guest directors, including many within our own community as well as those from other areas of Idaho and Utah. With two or three concerts each year, the Magic Philharmonic has become an integral part of the community, earning recognition from local leaders and the citizens of the Magic Valley.

The Magic Philharmonic has exclusively performed at the King Fine Arts Center, a state-of-the art, large venue seating up to 1300 people. We continue to work to grow and expand the opportunities of classical musicians in our area and appreciate the support of our wonderful community.
